"Hello everyone, it is time for another graphics card launch, this time not from NVIDIA though but from AMG, more specifically it is the Radeon RX 9070 GRE, this time in the Gigabyte Gaming OC 12G version, which obviously you know means 12GB and in this particular case 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM. Now obviously a lot of the stuff that carries all over between Gigabyte versions of set cards from AMD and NVIDIA carry over here, so the first thing that you might immediately notice is obviously the WinForce cooling system, so there are these three fans here with alternate spinning, there is composite copper heat pipes, there is screen cooling for better heat dissipation and a really strong metallic backplate to make sure that nothing happens to the card once you insert it into the PCIe slot at the back."
"All of this is here, most of the things that the type of companies that Gigabyte adds when they do their own shroud and they use the card, the base card from AMD to add their own technology or bolt their own technology onto is cooling solutions and with the copper heat piping, the screen cooling and the WinForce cooling system, you're pretty much guaranteed that this card will be able to run cool. Now what is the Radeon RX 9070 GRE in general?
Well, it is meant to be sort of entry-level 4K, so that means that there is a 3072 stream processor in here, there is 48 compute units, which is divided between 3rd gen RT and 2nd gen AI accelerators. As I said, you get 12 gigs of GDDR6 reram, whether or not that is enough, whether or not that is enough bus or backup to run modern games even a little bit out into the distance, well, that is really anyone's guess. It runs through a 256-bit memory bus with a combined memory bandwidth of 576 gigabytes per second. As I said, we've already gone over the actual sort of cooling solutions that Gigabyte themselves bolt onto here, but also I'd like to just point out there is a really nice sleek matte black shroud this time around, which I'm not going to say the card looks pretty per se, but I will say that it has been, like there are alternatives out there that are more gaudy and will just rub me the wrong way. You do have really subtle RGB solutions here. It's not a total light show, but it is enough for you to do some personalized light rigging inside your gaming tower once it is inserted. Apparently, it's a 220-watt TDP, so that means that it should be able to run with like a 500-watt PSU. Maybe that is a little bit low, but the point is that if you look towards the other end of the manufacturer spectrum, you're seeing power spikes, which would take you way beyond that TDP, so that requires a much larger PSU."
"So the fact that this probably doesn't, I think, bodes very well. Now, obviously, it's very difficult to say something about a card like this. I can tell you the basic stats, but the proof is in the pudding. That means that inserting it into a test rig and running benchmarks is really the name of the game here, and we will do exactly that. But what I can tell you is that we have very, very broad experience with Gigabyte's way of taking technology and products from NVIDIA and AMD across that spectrum and applying their own secret sauce through their BIOS, through their cooling solutions, and give you really streamlined performance across a whole number of different factors, and we expect the same to be the case here. We will fully look at it very soon and give you some benchmark results."
