"Without further ado though today, we're talking about The Witcher 4 and CD Projekt Red promising that we're going to see it again this summer, which is quite exciting in some ways, perhaps not as exciting as in others.
So The Witcher 4 is obviously CD Projekt Red's next upcoming massive project, it's going to be coming out within the next couple of years we think, definitely not 2026, but there's potential for 2027 as a release date, perhaps 2028 depending on when CD Projekt Red wants to push out that game, but we know that it's coming relatively soon-ish compared to say like The Witchers of the past, and now we know that we're going to be getting another look at it this summer."
"Last summer we got to see it as part of an Unreal Engine tech demo, it seems that it's going to be an Unreal Engine tech demo again kids, because we know that The Witcher 4 is going to be present at Unreal Fest this year, which takes place in June from the 16th to the 18th."
"So again, we're pretty much certain that this is going to be a tech demo rather than any sort of gameplay showcase or any significant portion of the game, which essentially means that you're not going to be looking at the game, you're looking at a rendering of Unreal Engine 5 of what The Witcher 4 might look like."
"Obviously the people at CD Projekt Red know what the game looks like, so they can give us a very good indicator of that through a tech demo, but it's still not something like say a playable demo in which we see a HUD and UI and things like that.
That's likely what it's going to be, but again, unconfirmed."
"Also we found out some stuff about the combat, just some small details really, stuff that we've kind of already been over before, but in more finite details, things like Ciri being able to cast spells while running and while moving, which is quite good, and also her being able to dive underwater."
"Now we could swim in The Witcher 3, but we could only swim at the surface level, which meant that if there was anything coming at you from underwater, that it was going to be pretty tough to take that down, unless you had a crossbow equipped, of course, in which case, it's got to be one shot."
"Yeah, we'll have to see, because there's a lot of pressure on The Witcher 4, understandably.
The Witcher 3 is many people's best game of all time, and it really was, until sort of like recent years, a real standard of what great gaming RPGs are.
Not that it's declined in recent years, but just we've had some great RPGs as well stand out, like Claire Obscura and Baldur's Gate 3, that have really taken that all of the time and gone wrong with it, in terms of bringing video game RPGs to a whole new level."
"So there's a lot of pressure on The Witcher 4 to sort of relive that, and especially with it being a different protagonist this time around, a different region, there's a lot of things that could go perhaps not in CD Projekt Red's favour, but they are very, very experienced developers."
"They are the biggest publisher, I believe, in Europe today, I think was a statistic that was shared around on NeoGAF, so they've clearly got the chops.
It's just whether it can manage to meet our expectations when it does come around.
Hopefully as well, we can get some more concrete, at least release window information around this summer as well."
