Today we're going to be touching on something that broke over the weekend.
A little story about the world of God of War actually."
"Specifically talking about what Santa Monica Studios could be producing next.
We have been expecting for a long while for Santa Monica to be working on a more significant game.
Something beyond the remake trilogy that was announced and something that will carry this God of War series forward into the future.
Many have been hoping that it's going to be a new adventure with Kratos."
"And that potentially it's going to take him to a new location to fight a new pantheon.
But maybe that's not going to be the case.
Because a new rumour has popped up and basically said that Santa Monica Studios is working on a female lead title in the God of War universe.
A female lead title that will seemingly follow the character of Faye."
"Who is basically Kratos' partner in the Norse saga for God of War.
And that it could be quite an action oriented title.
Which is a strange way to frame it.
Considering that God of War is incredibly action oriented."
"And somehow Faye's adventure is going to be more action oriented than with Kratos.
But anyway, let's dive on in and have a look.
So yes, rumour Santa Monica Studios is working on a female lead title in the God of War universe.
This supports previous rumours that also said they were working on a new franchise."
"But it still seems to be set in Kratos' world.
So what is Tony Santa Monica working on at the moment?
We don't know but there have been several signs of life from various sources recently.
And it seems that Corey Barlog, one of the leading figures behind God of War, has a new game series in the works."
"Now we've received a double dose of information.
First we have a former employee of the studio who worked there for five years.
A senior writer who writes on LinkedIn that it is indeed a new game series.
But it is actually set in the God of War universe."
"Helped shape narrative vision and creative direction at Sony Santa Monica Studios.
For a new franchise within the God of War universe.
Developing character storylines and original lore.
That expanded the acclaimed IP."
"Integrated story with gameplay and world building through scripts and narrative content.
Collaborating across disciplines to deliver emotionally driven experiences for global audiences.
Contributed to long term narrative and franchise strategy.
This prompted the often reliable insider NateTheHate to share what he knows about the matter."
"Adding that the lead character will be Faye.
Also known as Loud Faye the Just.
Apparently we can also look forward to some more interesting changes.
As the gameplay is said to differ from the Norse God of War games."
"With more of a focus on action.
We also learn that it will be unveiled this year and released in the first half of 2027.
Quite a tight window that.
To not already be announced and to then launch in the first half of 2027."
"I think that's a very ambitious idea.
Naturally none of this has been confirmed by Sony Santa Monica.
So take it with a grain of salt for now.
But with the prominent employees, LinkedIn and NateTheHate."
"Are still well above average when it comes to source credibility.
So.
Yeah.
A God of War game.
Or a God of War spin off more than anything."
"You can't really say it's a new franchise.
Because it's God of War is the franchise isn't it.
It's just a new adventure in the God of War universe.
It's a spin off game."
"In the same way that God of War Sons of Sparta is a new franchise.
It's a spin off game.
So interesting all the same.
We'll have to see what this ultimately becomes."
"But I do find it interesting that they mention that it's going to have more of an action oriented sort of theme to it.
Because again the God of War games are incredibly action oriented.
To the point where it's kind of hard to be more action oriented than the way they're set up.
And yet somehow Fe is going to outperform Kratos in that regard."
"I'm doubtful that'll be the case.
If they said it's going to be more of an adventure focused or something then I'd understand it.
But I don't know.
Maybe it won't be the same sort of set up as God of War."
"Maybe it'll be a completely different experience.
Like a top down game or something.
I don't know.
The way they're framing it makes me think that there's going to be something quite different about the way this is fundamentally set up."
"But we'll have to see.
But the key thing to know is that if this rumour does hold any truth.
Which again we've got it on two different sort of sources here.
We're going to get an announcement relatively soon you'd assume."
"Because it's supposed to be coming out in the first half of 2027.
Which is you know.
That leaves it a 16 month window to launch.
So for a game that hasn't been announced."
"And a game that's in a franchise as large as God of War.
You'd expect the wheels to start rolling pretty quickly.
Because they're going to be running out of time.
