"Hello everyone and welcome back to another GRTV News. Today what we're going to be talking about is Ubisoft again. Because over the weekend, or over the weekend, God what day are we on, Thursday, over last night a report came out that revealed that once again there's going to be some executive and leadership changes over on the creative teams at Ubisoft's game developers. One such example is about Assassin's Creed. So very recently you might be aware that they laid, or Ubisoft laid out this new sort of overarching leadership would be stewarding Assassin's Creed forward into the future. This is now following up to that in that one of the upcoming games, actually I feel like this is a game that's been in development now for already like four or five years to some degree, and yet we've not really seen anything of it which is a little bit concerning. But Assassin's Creed Hexay, as it's known, has lost its creative director, who's you know departed Ubisoft, and they found someone else to fill the void. So let's hop on in and see what's happening. So yes, Ubisoft confirms departure of Assassin's Creed Hexay creative director."
"Creative director Clint Hocking is now a part of the company leaving the upcoming Assassin's Creed Hexay in new hands. Ubisoft continues to shake up its organisation. It's now clear that the next person to be let go is Clint Hocking, creative director for the upcoming Assassin's Creed Hexay. This was being confirmed by a spokesperson for Ubisoft, who also emphasises the development of Hexay will continue as usual, and that an experienced team will continue working on the project, which is described as one of the most unique entries in the series to date. We sincerely thank Clint for his vision, creative contributions, and dedication over the years, and we wish him the very best in his next chapter. So Hocking's role is now being taken over by Jean Gouzan, the newly appointed head of content for Assassin's Creed brand. Gouzan is far from an unknown name and was previously creative director for both Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag and Assassin's Creed Origins, two of the series most acclaimed games. Hocking himself has a long history at Ubisoft and has previously led the development of Far Cry 2, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, and Watch Dogs Legion among others. What's next step will be, it's still unclear, but we wish him the best of luck in the future. Are you looking forward to Hexay?
So, yeah, a little bit of change behind the scenes for this game. I find this game a little bit conflicting because they announced this game back when they announced the upcoming slate of Assassin's Creed. I want to say it was in 2021. It was a long time ago. It was when they announced Assassin's Creed Codename Red. They announced Assassin's Creed Codename Jade and Assassin's Creed Codename Hexay, of which Assassin's Creed Codename Red became Assassin's Creed Shadows, which launched around a year ago. Assassin's Creed Codename Jade became Assassin's Creed Jade, which still hasn't come out, but they've done a variety of different playtests for this game. I played it like three or four different times myself. And Assassin's Creed Codename Hexay has become just Hexay. They did also announce the Animus sort of platform as well. Is it just called Animus? I can't remember. But essentially, it's like, if you think about the Call of Duty launcher, which you boot with Call of Duty, and then you can access all the different games if that's basically what they did. They introduced it with Shadows as well."
"And again, all that stuff now, it's sort of become a reality. Or if it hasn't, and again, if it hasn't become a reality yet, like Jade, the mobile game, we've seen so much of it that we're kind of familiar with it. Hexay is not that. Hexay is a game that, ever since they announced it, basically nothing of substance has ever come out about this game. And that concerns me a little bit, because by now we should at least have a better idea as to what they want to offer with this game. And it's concerning for another simple reason, in that it's perhaps one of the most exciting Assassin's Creed games that they've ever put forward. It's the one that set, I can't remember the exact time period, 1600, 1700s, in Salem, in the United States, around the witch trials. So again, it could have a very different sort of feel to it than traditional Assassin's Creed. And I don't know whether we're going to be in store for a game that's very sort of, it's quite a departure from the Assassin's Creed we know and love. But yeah, hopefully this means that it's closer than further away, but it's difficult to save, especially when you lose such a key person in the development cycle in the form of a creative director. So yeah, we'll stay tuned and see if we, until more information arrives. But the key thing to know is that a codename Hexay, or Hexay as it's now known, has lost its creative director and a former Assassin's Creed, well an ongoing Assassin's Creed veteran who is currently overseeing the series as well, has stepped up to take over the creative direction duties of said product."
"As we know more about this, we'll be sure to keep you posted and updated. Otherwise I'll be back now tomorrow for my next and final GRT news of the week. So until then, I hope you enjoy the rest of Thursday, and I'll see you all on the next one. Take care, everyone."
